Treasured Earth Foods - Hiding Health in the Foods You Love
Frequently Asked Questions

Are your grain-free cookies really grain free?
Yes! Our grain-free cookies really are grain free.

Why can't I taste the vegetables?
We've figured out the right combination of ingredients to allow the more desirable flavors come through without compromising taste.

Where can I buy the products?
We are currently working with stores to make the products available. As we grow and add locations to our vendor list we'll post those locations on our website.

What is a Kika?
When my oldest son was small, he had trouble pronouncing certain words. One word in particular was abuelita (which means "grandmother" in Spanish). We shortened it to "Lita", but instead he pronounced it "Kika" (in English it sounds like Kee-kuh). My mother is the mastermind behind these great recipes so we named them in her honor.

Are the Kikas and the brownies gluten-free?
We have our own kitchen. No gluten products are used in the kitchen.

What is Agave Nectar?
Agave nectar is a liquid harvested from the agave plant. Then, it is filtered and cooked over a low heat. It is well known in Mexico and has been used for centuries in cooking. Its glycemic index is considered low. It doesn't have much of a taste so it can sweeten without affecting the taste of the end product. There is some controversy surrounding Agave Nectar and I caution when reading "expert" opinion on the subject. I've seen a lot of statements with "may have", "could cause", "may cause" and quite a bit of supposition. Most sources with a .org that do not support any particular industry should be the most neutral. That said, one of our kikas has less than 1 teaspoon of Agave Nectar. As with any healthy diet, moderation and balance should be the goal.

How should I store your products and how long do they last?
All of our products last 4-5 days at room temperature but we suggest putting everything in the fridge or freezer when you get home or when they arrive in the mail. In the fridge they should last about 1 month and in the freezer 3-4 months if well wrapped. Otherwise they might get freezer burn. Some customers enjoy zapping the brownies in the microwave for 5 seconds (maybe more time depending on your microwave and quantity of brownies) or conventional oven (350 degrees or so) for about 5 minutes to warm them up.
